Pedestrian dies in Banbury crash

A man in his 70s suffered serious injuries outside the Thai Orchid restaurant on Friday night.

Police are investigating a fatal crash between a red Nissan Pixo and a pedestrian on the A361 at around 10.35pm.

The pedestrian, from Warwickshire, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

It happened between Horsefair and Parsons Street.

A 19-year-old woman also received minor injuries.

The driver of the car, an 18-year-old woman from the Cherwell area, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on bail.

Lead investigating officer, Sergeant Edward Crofts from Bicester said: “We are conducting an investigation following this incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and one person has been arrested and bailed.

“We are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time of the incident and may have dash-cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to the collision.

“Also we would ask anyone who has CCTV to check their footage and get in touch if it shows anything that may assist our investigation.'

Anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage should upload it to TVP's online portal page, or call 101 quoting reference 43230131776.
